1.4- Our Guide to Creative and Media in the Local Area

Target audience for our guideBefore we got down to making our leaflet I had to think about my target audience which was Cranford students looking to find creative media events in the area.

In order to know what to include in my guide i first had to find out what students already knew and didnt know about the creative media events in the the area then apply my knowledge from this research to help create the leaflet.
Below is evidence of me sending out emails of my quantative questionaire to students in cranford ...
I then worked in parnters with Zahra looking at different leaflets/guide and writing down the good features of the it and the ones that need improvement. Also looking at how the leaflet has used specific features to add an affect and how they have targeted their audience.

Here is a photo of the brainstorm I wrote where we wrote down the different things that we needed and wanted to include in our guide.

Evaluation of the first draft of my Leaflet:

My first drafts of the both the front and back side I did using publisher, i decided to keep it simple and straight forward mainly focussing on the information i was adding inside.
I then asked on people opinions of what they thought they really liked the heading "Spotlight" with the image of different spotlights at the top. The colours i used where consistent throughout which made i tlook proffesional

Students liked how i easy and clear the directions and map where also adding that it was really useful writing the bus routes as Cranford students mainly use buses to get around so i was really taking into consideration my target audience.
The information of different events was set out very clear with just the right information and details required.

In order to improve my leaflet was to change the size of the both the ealing and hounslow logos just so they werent that distracting and to make other features of the front of the guide stand out also adding an extra image of students or creative media based image just to balance it out, So below you can see i changed the sizes of the logos and added an image of dancing silloutettes just to emphasise that my leaflet is targeted at Cranford students.

I the looked at my directions column and thought that is was also missing an image as it looked so plain so i dfound an image related to creative media such as curtaing in a theatre and added it behind making it look much more interesting.

When i asked about my fast page on Hounslow and Ealing they thought it was good but just pointless and a bit offputting as students wouldnt read through it all so i thought i would scrap the whole coloumn/part and advertise theatre production in the well known watermans theatre, so I found posters advertising the most recent productions with the relevant information such as price etc

Whn I showed some student the otherside they were happy with teh information but thought it was a bit bland and that the inages in the middle coloumn were good but a bit random and didnt really flow with the exciting front part to the guide, so i spread iout the events into three seperate coloumns addign the same images for the background which i used in the front side of the leaflet to keep it consistent and added images from each event nect to the events to give the readers and insight it straight away made the leaflet look more attractive and engaging.
Below are the pictures of my final product for my guide.
